Summer: What I’m Dreaming Of

Summer: What I’m Dreaming Of

When I say I’m dreaming of summer I truly mean it and it’s the same every year and I just adore this picture that I took in NYC last summer and you can see more of my holiday pictures from that trip in my NYC photo diary post. Also, as I’m nearing the end of my degree (eek) don’t be surprised if things go a bit quiet on the blog front. Although I’m doing ok at the moment, I have a feeling my dissertation is going to need some serious time and I want to be able to dedicate all my efforts to it as I’m proud of the topic and want to do it justice.

With that in mind, I decided to dedicate this post to all the things I’m looking forward to this summer and what my plans are once uni is over for good. Hint – I’m not sure I’m mentally prepared for that prospect just yet.

For me, summer is made for sitting out in the sun but being in Scotland we don’t get to do much of that. I would love nothing more than sitting out on a daybed*, with a good book and a cup of tea by my side. I mean who wouldn’t want one of these in their back garden, I know I do and it’s definitely something that I’m praying I’ll see when we pull up to our gîte in France in May.

Yes, you read that right, for 2 weeks this summer, my husband and I off to France and I can’t wait. It’s one of my favourite destinations for sightseeing as well as all the amazing the food. Now to figure out how much we can bring home in the car.

The other thing I have planned which I’m not looking forward to is finding a job. I really want to do something related to my blog and digital marketing which is where I’m hoping my dissertation will come in handy. I plan on doing a full post on it once it’s all finished so if you want to know more about that then you can check back then. With this brings graduation and the anxiety about what I’m going to wear. I’ve bought my shoes already but now I need to find a dress, only there’s one issue with this, we have a dress code. This means that my dress needs to be black, in the middle of July so all suggestions on what would work for me will be gratefully received.

I’ve missed doing a chatty life update style post so will try and do more when I have something that is worth sharing and that I think you lovely lot will want to read.

What are you doing this summer? Do you have any job hunting tips for me?

  • Wow, France! Super jealous – have an amazing time. I personally loathe Summer – getting all hot and sweaty, never being able to see the TV/computer screen because of light coming through the blinds. Haha. I just hate it. But I must admit, it was gloriously sunny earlier, and I did think it’ll be nice to see the back of all this gloomy weather! x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

  • France will be amazing! I haven’t been in years but it is so beautiful 🙂

  • Hope you have the best time in France – I haven’t been in years but would love to go back. My summer hopefully consists of us returning to Dubai after an incredibly vacation in 2016 then hopefully another trip around August in The Dominican Republic! Would love to get these trips booked soon so fingers crossed 🙂

  • I hope you enjoy your time off in France, that will be lovely for you and good luck on the final push towards the end of your degree too. I remember my last few months, so don’t feel bad if you need to take a blog break at all, I definitely did but then there was a lot of relief when it finished and I had some free time ahead of me. I love those photos you got in NYC too, the sky is so blue! I can’t wait for summer so I can take a trip down to the beach, it always rejuvenates me. I’m job hunting at the moment myself, so I’m in a similar situation to you. I found keeping busy and volunteering in-between worked has helped, but only if you want to and have the time, but in terms of finding work I just spend each day contacting people, agencies, companies and organisations I’m interested in as well as searching job sites and looking at ways I can update my CV and cover letter so they’re polished. I’ve also spent time sending out my CV’s with a speculative cover letter to places I really want to work at to let them know I’m seeking work. That’s the best and only advice I have at the moment! – Tasha
