I know it’s a fairly unusual title and you’re probably thinking that I’ve lost the plot as well as the ability to spell but I promise you I sincerely haven’t. I was having a think the other day about blog posts I could write and then realised that with an impending holiday that I should post about the sites I use when booking holidays and the ones that make my life easier. EscEscape *, Cottages.com and Go Nice are the ones being included in this post but there are probably more that I could post about if I had the time.
I am an overly organised traveller and I’m not afraid to admit it. I will micromanage the organisation of a holiday but only so that I can enjoy myself once I’m there and know that everything has been taken care of. I love sites where I can compare prices or find the exact thing that I need to make the holiday as enjoyable as possible and take out any worries I may have beforehand.
EscEscape is a web browser plugin, which, once installed can be used to help you find the cheapest weekend flights within the next two months. The best bit, you activate the plugin by hitting the escape key twice. You can select the flights it brings up or you can double tap escape again for it to bring up a new destination. This is the perfect extension for the traveller that is more impulsive and doesn’t know where they want to go. As an organised traveller, it provides the perfect excuse to try a new destination but still have my flights booked in advance.
Cottages.com is where I booked the self-catering accommodation for the holiday my husband and I are going on this year. I managed to nab a deal last year where I paid a £25 deposit for the cottage of our choice and then could pay off the balance until 8 weeks before the trip. I loved this as it meant our dates were booked in advance but I could pay the balance off when I could. Yes, I will probably post about the cottage we stay in and what we get up to. The best bit about this site is the range of countries and properties available and the fact that you can also book cross channel travel with them too.
When we went to Nice for two weeks a couple of years ago I booked our accommodation with Go Nice and the process couldn’t have been simpler. We were even given a number for a taxi driver who would pick us up from the airport, take us to our flat and even have our keys for the apartment so wouldn’t have to traipse to the office to pick them up. We had a couple of issues while we were there and they were dealt with quickly which was great. The flat was really central and had a gorgeous roof terrace which we made a lot of use of.
What do you think of EscEcape and would you use it?
