Staying Fashionable in the Workplace

This is a guest post but one that really got me thinking about how I can stay fashionable in the workplace even though I wear a uniform. I realised that it becomes a case of how I wear my uniform and the choices of what I wear (trousers v skirt or footwear) that really make the difference. I hope this post gives you a few ideas for staying fashionable in the workplace too.

Small touches of character

When it comes to creating a fashionable workplace uniform, there are a lot of small additions and tweaks you can make to really make a look unique and feel more ‘you’.

For example, workwear suppliers such as Simon Jersey Uniforms could provide you with ties or scarfs in a bold and vibrant colour to catch people’s eyes and leave an impression.

You could even consider combining style and function with a small clutch handbag for all your day-to-day essentials. Match its colour with the main colour of your uniform to complete the look. For men, a sturdy silver or gold watch could be a brilliant finishing touch to a uniform that makes you stand out around the workplace.

In my eyes workplace fashion is important and I suggest that you check out Top Tier Style – Fashion & Clothing for a wide range of clothing and accessories.

Fashion all year round.

An effective fashionable uniform will change with the seasons, allowing you to stand out and look stylish at any time of the year.

You could consider adding a waistcoat, blazer or cardigan to your work attire for when autumn starts to fade and the chillier temperatures of winter start to set in. On the other hand, when things start to heat up again, simply leave the outer layers at home or consider switching to short-sleeve polo shirts to stop the heat getting to you.

It also might be a great time for women to make their mark by bringing out smart dresses in a range of colours and patterns that follow seasonal trends. You’ll keep cool during long shifts, all while making a bold fashion statement.
Keeping fashionable and keeping comfortable

Feeling fashionable is one thing, but it’s never fun having to deal with aches and pains that might pop up over the course of a long shift or very busy week. Try to consider that throughout the process of putting together a uniform.

For example, instead of high heels, consider a simple pair of flats. They’ll be a subtle addition to any uniform, but they’ll certainly help make sure you’re never in any discomfort through a shift.

For men, shoes with padded insoles will keep you on your feet longer. Look for some authentic, high-quality leather brogues. They’ll stay sturdy for a long time, keep you comfortable, and you’ll always look professional.

When it comes to shirts, blouses, and trousers, keep your eyes open for shirts and blouses made from 100% cotton, and trousers that offer a mix of polyester and cotton. This will make sure that your uniform will last, while not being too tight or restrictive with your movement.

Do you have any tips for staying fashionable in the workplace?
