[This post has been updated to include more of my essentials]
I’ve been doing hybrid working for quite some time now but it’s taken me a long time to work out what is essential to me when working from home and what is just nice to have around. These are all my work from home essentials and the things I think we all need to get us through the work day!
Phone Charger Stand
Even though I don’t use my phone during my work day, the battery still drains. This Canyon wireless charger from Ryman* is £45 but worth every penny (it doesn’t have an adapter, so I plugged the USB straight into my extension lead). I can charge my phone while I work, but I can also make sure my iPods are fully charged before I next need to leave the house. Having my phone on this stand also means that I know where I’ve left it during the day, as I have a horrible habit of putting it down (on silent) and then not knowing where I’ve left it. The only thing missing from this charger is an Apple Watch charger, but I can cope with having a separate one on my desk. The other thing I will note is that it is a bit of a dust catcher, so make sure you have a duster handy.

Wireless Mouse and Keyboard
Now I know this seems like an odd item to include, considering you need a mouse and a keyboard anyway, but I do prefer having wireless over trailing wires. I have minimal USB ports on my laptop, so having one dongle to plug in rather than 2 USBs makes life a whole lot easier. I’ve been using the Canyon Wireless Keyboard* (£9.99) and Canyon Wireless Mouse* (£5.99). Both are available from Ryman and are the perfect additions for any work from home setup.
Both the keyboard and mouse are easy to set up and use. What I love about the keyboard is the keys are soft which is great if you have issues with your joints or do a lot of typing. The mouse also registers what I would like to do quickly which isn’t always the case with a bluetooth mouse. With the right usb adapter both devices can also be used with an iPad or Mac which is a huge plus. Sometimes I’ll use my iPad instead of my laptop but I want to be able to use a proper keyboard – especially one with a number pad if I’m working on a spreadsheet.

Cute stationery
There is always a need to have cute stationery on your desk. I love the notepad in the above pic as I can fill in a day-by-day to-do list, but also add notes on the opposing page. Its pages, which can be torn out and binned when done – I hate notebooks where I can’t bin the pages as I want to be able to get rid of some of my notes, not hang onto them. This one is from Busy B and is also where I go to get my diary for the year.
Tea
How could I write a post and not include tea? I always have tea when I’m working (home or otherwise). It’s not always tea that’s in the picture (probably Yorkshire), but it is definitely an essential for me. Click on the word tea and it will take you to all the posts I’ve written on the subject!

Well, there you have it, all of my work from home essentials. It’s not a lot when you think about it, but it’s what I need to get through the day. I also don’t know how it took me so long to write a post like this but I’m glad I have now.
If these are my work from home essentials – what are yours?
