The kitchen is my favourite room in the house and not just because that’s where the kettle is – although that may be a large part of it. Even though everywhere I’ve lived has had a fairly small kitchen it will always be my favourite place. If you’re looking for a new kitchen Glotech Kitchens are worth looking into. Within this post, I plan to share some of my tips and a video from Phil Spencer’s Perfect Home to show you how a well designed and well-dressed kitchen can help you to lead a healthier life.
Keep a shopping list in your kitchen
I find this incredibly helpful and is something I will keep doing as it makes food shopping a lot easier. As you’re running out of something add to the list for the next time you go shopping. Doing your shopping this way means you’re less likely to buy things you don’t need.
Have a noticeboard or calendar
I’ll be honest and admit that in this house we have both. The calendar for all appointments and noting down who will be in for dinner and when. This means the right number of meals are bought/the right amount of food cooked for the number of people eating. The noticeboard is for all other information including print outs of favourite recipes so they’re easy to find.
Hide biscuits and snacks
This is one idea that I really love and means I don’t snack as much as I otherwise would. By having them out of sight they are quite literally out of mind. Of course, once I want a snack this means a bit more hunting but then it feels like I’ve earned it. On the same note, while not necessarily to do with the kitchen, we keep the fruit bowl on the coffee table. This means when you’re hungry you’re more likely to reach for a piece of fruit than a chocolate bar. Although I will admit that there are some days where obviously only a chocolate bar will do.
