Velvet Lipstick: Bourjois First Impressions

velvet lipstick

Bourjois is a makeup brand that in all honesty, I’ve not bought in years. The last product of theirs I used was a pink shimmer eyeshadow when I was at school and then decided that I could also use it as a blusher when in fact it was probably more akin to being a highlighter. For someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup, I think this was a fairly good move on my part. Since then, I’ve seen lots of bloggers using and reviewing Bourjois but nothing in the range appealed to me until I saw the velvet lipstick range that is.

I signed up to Influenster a wee while ago and although I’d posted a couple of reviews I wasn’t expecting to receive anything. That was until I got the email telling me that I’d be receiving all 12 shades of Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick and the primer pencil too. If you’ve read my Kylie cosmetics review then you’ll know that I love a good matte lip colour and these are no exception.

The Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick range has been designed with 12 shades and are intended to be colourful, exciting and last for up to 24 hours. They have a precision applicator which application really easy – especially for a makeup beginner like me. I especially love the primer pencil as it stops any bleed through from the lipstick and gives a fantastic base to apply it on. The primer also stops my lips from drying out too quickly which has happened with other matte lip products in the past.

I’ve been using the shades 2,3 and 4 for about a week now and I love them. For me, they are the perfect nude shades that I can wear to work and not need to worry about retouching them during my shift. Some of the shades are a bit out there for me but once we get more into autumn I might be giving some of the darker shades a try. They may be a bit outside my comfort zone but if I don’t try I never will. velvet lipstick

The Bourjois velvet matte lipstick range is available at Boots, Superdrug and feelunique for £8.99 and is often in 3 for 2 offers too! I think this is a really affordable price for this type of lipstick and is the price I would be willing to pay for these.

What do you think of the velvet lipsticks and will you be adding them to your collection?

Disclaimer: I received these products free from Influenster and Bourjois in return for a review.
