I posted about my make-up favourites back in January and felt it was time for an update as I’ve been reading more blog posts and finding more products that I’ve fallen in love with in the months in between. Now all those products in my previous makeup favourites post are still much used and adored but it’s always nice to have new ones to add to the list.
Sleek Highlighter Palette in Solstice
Yes, I’m behind the times with this one and I’m not even ashamed to admit that. After some encouragement from a fab group of bloggers I took the plunge and ordered this palette. I am so glad that I did and after asking for some advice on how to use it, I intend to be shining brightly the next time I wear a full face of makeup.
I bought two of the matte lipsticks from Sleek as a Kylie one is a little out of my reach at the moment. I’m sure I will buy a lip kit at some point, though. Birthday Suit and Shabby Chic were the two I went for and I’m so glad that I did. Birthday Suit is the one I’m wearing in my profile picture and is a pretty good dupe for Kylie’s Dolce K. Unfortunately, I suffered a mild allergic reaction but I’m hoping that it was something else and not the lipsticks.
L to R – Roses Are Red, Nude News and Rioja Your World
I seem to have developed a love for matte lipsticks recently (as has the rest of the world) and I’m sure these three that were sent to me by Seventeen will become firm favourites. I’ve already tried Nude News and found that it’s best worn over the Models Own primer (below) but under the Sleek lipstick as a base for it. It’s slightly the wrong shade of nude but that was bound to happen when I was colour matching online. Roses are red and Rioja Your World were both chosen with Autumn/Winter in mind and I’m looking forward to giving them a try.
Models Own Lip Primer
I picked up this lip primer to try and alleviate the issue I had with the Sleek Matte Me above and it seems to be doing the trick. This and some industrial lip balm and I’ll be all set to rock my growing collection of matte lipsticks.
After trying the primer from Benefit it was only a matter of time before I tried the mascara to match. I’m so glad I did because it applies well (unlike Rollerlash) and with the primer it makes my eyes look nice and open. This is a mini size due to the fact that I don’t wear much makeup and a full size would have been a waste of money.
This palette was actually in my birthday wishlist post and my lovely best friend AJ from AJ Loves bought it for me. Between this and my Naked Basics palette, I can achieve the perfect nude eye very quickly. As a makeup novice, this is all I can achieve but it’s a step in the right direction.
