Best Swimwear for Those with Mid-section Scars*

*Both swimsuits were gifted in return for a blog post but all views and opinions are my own.

If you weren’t aware or haven’t read my blog before then there is a good reason why I’m blogging about the best swimsuits for those with midsection scars. I had a hysterectomy in December 2012 and I’m so happy I went through with it. I’m planning a full post on my surgery and recovery but for now, just know that there is something about the scar that means a bikini is just no longer a viable option.

Both the swimsuits in this post were comfortable to wear, didn’t hurt my scar and if I do say so myself I look bloody good in them both too.

I fell in love with this swimsuit as soon as I saw it. It’s by Hunkemoller and is the Ocean Game* swimsuit (now £32.50 was £49) but be quick as currently there are only 10s and 20s left on the site.

Although Hunkemoller doesn’t have any physical stores in the UK they do ship to the UK and Ireland. If you’re in France, I did spot a store in the Shopping centre at Calais which is near the Channel Tunnel terminal. There’s actually several shops in there I would love to go back to.

The ribbing on this swimsuit is what drew me to begin with. There is a panel on the inside and then the stretchy fabric over the top and it’s the most comfortable swimsuit I’ve ever worn.

You can adjust the front of the suit to sit where you want it and it’s why I love it. My scar is from hip to hip and sits at a level where bikini bottoms would be uncomfortable. Some swimsuits also cause this problem if they’ve been designed badly. This one, although not designed for my purpose, is the best one I’ve found as it had no panels or stitching in the wrong places.

The only issue I had was how long it took to dry after swimming as it’s a bit thicker at the front than a standard swimsuit but as I’ve already said this is what makes it so comfortable.

The next time I’m buying swimwear Hunkemoller is a site I’ll definitely be checking out to find something that’s comfortable.

I’m channelling my inner Blair Waldorf with this swimsuit. It’s the most gorgeous shade of blue but it is a bit tight to get on. As you can see it looks great once on but with the rigid sides at the bust it’s a right fit over my hips. It’s made by Speedo but sold by UK Swimwear* which is one of the things that attracted me to the swimsuit as I knew it would be good quality.

Currently, it’s only in stock in a size 12 which is what I was in and although it fitted I wouldn’t try and squeeze into this one if I’m honest. Only buy it if you know it will definitely fit. At £65.95 it’s on the pricier side but it’s extremely good quality and will last several seasons as it’s a classic colour and style.

As with the black and white swimsuit, the front has ruched panelling which hides your tum but also creates comfort over a scar. Having extra material over the tummy area means it’s more comfortable. It also doesn’t rub and it’s not noticeable when wearing the swimsuit that there is even a scar there.

The main reason I’m very proud of this post is that I took all the photos using the Olympus app on my phone linked with the camera and on my baby tripod. This was on the deck of our caravan and with people constantly walking/driving past wondering what the hell I was doing.

I’m not posting a full blog post of this years holiday photos but if you want to see lots of France photos then check out this post from two years ago!

Hope you enjoyed the post and if you have any questions then feel free to leave me a comment.
