It may not seem like it but I do like getting outside in the wilderness of Scotland or France for that matter. I’m not a hike up a mountain every weekend kind of person but I do like going for walks in rural areas and taking in all that the great outdoors have to offer.
This is a sponsored post but all views and opinions are my own.
There’s something magical about heading out for the day with my camera and coming back with not only lots of photos for the blog but a feeling of well-being that I don’t get going for a walk in my local village. Regatta is wanting people to think about other activities they could do to harness the power of nature and for me, it’s all about looking up other places where I can go for a long walk followed by a picnic.
I could spend the whole of this post rambling (ignore the pun) about why I love the great outdoors and what they have to offer but instead, I’m going to list some of my favourite walks to do with my husband.

Perthshire
One of the walks that’s been a favourite for me since childhood is the walk along the riverbank of the Tay between Dunkeld and Birnam. My grandmother had a caravan there so I’ve spent lots of time in the area. Pitlochry is also a great place for a walk, although, I could do without the suspension bridge section of that particular walk.
Loch Lomond
We’ve done the lower walk at the base of Ben Lomond and it was a lot of fun but I would only think about doing it again if it’s in better weather. I’m definitely a fair-weather walker and some of this was quite tricky for me to manage as my balance isn’t brilliant. Even just having a wander at Rowardennan is worth getting out of the car with my camera.
Gramat Animal Parc – France
As well as being able to see the animals this is a gorgeous walk on a sunny day. There’s a few miles of paths to follow and there’s plenty of scenery to photograph too. The Animal Park is one of the many places we’ll be heading back to the next time we’re in France – which will hopefully be next year.
For me the joy of the great outdoors is justbeing able to experience it. I don’t have to be doing anything in particular, although, it’s nice if I have my camera with me to be able to document the event. If I can’t get too far out of the city then you can usually also find me in the local botanic gardens. Sometimes all I need is to be around nature, in whatever format that may take.
