I think working with brands is one of the most asked questions that I see in blogger groups and on Pinterest. The brutally honest answer is that it takes a lot of hard work but there are some methods that UK beauty bloggers can use that have worked for me in the past. I think it’s also equally important for brands to know how they can work with beauty bloggers too. This post os the most common ways to work with beauty bloggers and what they can provide for your business.
This is a sponsored post but all the views and opinions are my own.
Sponsored Posts
Sponsored posts (like this one) are a great way to work with beauty bloggers as you don’t need to wait for them to receive a product for them to write the post for you. When reaching out, you do need to take into consideration which type of link you’re looking for as well as the anchor text and links you would like to be included within the post itself.
Blogger Outreach Services
I’ve signed up to a few of these in the past but due to low follower numbers, I’m rarely selected for campaigns. Get Blogged however is different. They use your blog DA to find out if you’re suitable and you also have to pitch for the posts you’d like to write. I like this method as you can pretty much prep a full blog post in the pitch and then know exactly what you’ll be typing up when they approve you for the post.
This is great for the brand too as they know exactly what will be in the post before they receive it. Using a platform like Get Blogged also means they can request specific links and text be used in the post for the DA level they wish to have posting their links. FOr both the brand and the blogger this is a win-win!
Facebook Groups
I’m a member of a few blogging groups where PRs and brands will post looking for bloggers to try and then post about their products. This doesn’t happen as often as it used to but it’s still worth a try. The best way to do this is with a google form to capture all the information you’ll need to be able to make a decision on who you would like to work with.
Contact by the Brand
On a few occasions, I’ll be contacted by the brand about working together. Usually, I’ll receive an email from a PR for the company (either a company employee or a PR firm) and they’ll be asking how we can work together and what coverage they can expect from me and what I’ll receive in return. this is getting a bit rarer but there is one brand that I’ve now built an on-going relationship with based on the original contact and the quality of the coverage provided for them.
When a brand contacts me this is usually to work on a gifted basis and if it’s something that I really want to try then I’ll accept. It also depends on the value of the product and if it would be worth my time to try it and promote it.
Who Gets it Right?
The 5 bloggers below are the ones who receive PR packages and I love to see what they’ve received when they showcase on their Instagram stories.
- Hayley Hall (@hayleyhall_uk)
- Anoushka (@anoushkaloves)
- Beth Sandland (@bethsandland)
- Leah (@devotedtopink)
- Brogan Tate (@brogantatexo)
As you can see there are many ways you can work with beauty bloggers and each one has its positives and negatives to it. Ultimately, it will come down to what you want to achieve, be that, link building, sending out new releases or building a lasting relationship with the beauty bloggers.
