This may seem like an odd suggestion coming from me considering my profession but a staycation is a particularly good idea this year – this is also based on the new guidelines from the Government in the past few days.

The concept of foreign travel is incredibly unpredictable right now but I think based on the last 6t months we’re all feeling like we need a change of scenery. One place I love to visit is Kent* as there is so much to do and see as well as having the potential for being by the seaside too. The best bit for us is we drive doen and have a hotel as base so we can arrange activities we know we can get to with the car.
There’s a huge amount to do in Kent and when I asked my husband for his top activities he didn’t stop for over a couple of minutes listing things to do. I’ve picked the two places that I really want to see the next time we’re there even though with being in Scotland I’m not sure when that will be.
Leeds Castle

I first saw Leeds Castle in a TV show with a wedding (maybe Don’t Tell the Bride?) and I’ve been in love ever since. It’s located 5 miles outside Maidstone and although the ticket prices are fairly steep there is a lot to do and by pre-booking a ticket you’re guaranteed entry to the castle if it’s a busy day. Leeds Castle was a Norman stronghold and used by Henry VIII whcih means there must be some great stories to hear when you visit.
Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury cathedral is one of the oldest Christian structures in England and is part of a World Heritage Site. Whilst I’m not a religious person I do love seeing the inside of churches and cathedrals as we can learn a lot from them. The architecture is always amazing and I love taking as many pictures as possible. Depending on when you visit you could also attend a service if that’s of interest to you.
The main reason you should choose a staycation this year is it gives you a chance to see that the UK has to offer over a foreign country. I know we may not have the weather and my god I know that Scotland looks better in the sun but there’s so much to do and no need to quarantine on your return.
Pin this for later

Where would you go for a UK staycation?
