Monthly Favourites: January 2018

I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a favourites post but I loved writing one about Glasgow so I decided to add monthly favourites in too. No idea if this will be a permanent feature or not but it’s nice to do every once in a while. My favourites this month were a mix of skincare, technology and food which is novel for me as it would usually just be food and a good book.

Caudalie Cleanser & Moisturiser

Vaughan bought these for me as part of my Christmas present when we were in London last year and I’ve been using them religiously ever since. I even added them to the gift guide I posted last year too. The Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk is so much kinder to my skin than micellar water ever was. It also removes makeup much faster too. It’s a no water cleanser which is good for me as I don’t have a mirror in the bathroom. The Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet is one I received a tester of when I bought a Latest in Beauty box last year and I’ve been in love ever since. I took it with me to make sure I got the right one, as due to allergies I didn’t want to get the wrong one. Caudalie products are derived from grape seeds but as I’m allergic to red wine I was sceptical as to whether I could use all the products. Turns out the ones I have are fine for me usually frustrating skin and will be with me for the long haul I think.

Kindle Paperwhite

For the second year in a row I entered Scotrail’s competition to be sent something that would make life easier for me. Due to the pain in my hands, I’ve been unable to actually hold a book to read and although I have an iPad it’s still a bit on the heavy side. I asked Santa to send me a Kindle and a few days later this gorgeous Paperwhite arrived while I was at work. I’ve barely put it down since. Owning this means that instead of the total of 10 books I read in 2017, I’ve read at least a dozen since this beauty arrived. My TBR for Kindle is getting longer by the day and I’m very much ok with this.

Hotel Chocolat Chocolate

I found these Hotel Chocolat Cashew Pralines when I was in picking up a gift for part of my secret Santa gift. The Selector packs are 3 for £10 so it seemed silly not to treat myself too. I wasn’t actually sure if I was going to like them as sometimes I find chocolate too dark but these are amazing. The problem is I could easily sit and eat all 6 of them in one go. I don’t buy them often but there is a store close to my work so I need to be careful not to pop in too regularly as it would not be good for the bank balance.

Cosy socks

These socks would probably show up on my monthly favourites every time if I felt I could add them in. I now get cold a lot faster than I used to so cosy socks are an absolute must especially with the amount of snow we’ve had. I picked these up just before Christmas from Sainsbury’s and there was another pair with a polar bear wearing a pink scarf which is really cute. They’re very soft and thick but because they’re described as thermal socks they’re nice and light which means I can wear them to work on really chilly days as it gets very cold in there.

Well, that’s the full round-up of my monthly favourites for January and I’d love to know what your favourites were last month.
