There will be lots of you out there that have no idea what I mean with a blog title of “90kg Rice Challenge” but hopefully by the end of this blog post all of that will change. 90kg of rice is what one farmer in Malawi needs to sell to send a child to secondary school for a year. Where the challenge comes in is my university (UWS) has purchased rice from the supplier and myself and two other students have been set the challenge of selling as much as possible with the aim of being able to send at least one maybe two Malawian children to school but whilst doing this the campus we are on (Paisley) is aiming to sell more rice than either Ayr or Hamilton who are also taking part.
For more information you can visit the website of the JTS (company which supplies the rice) here
Over the following weeks I’ll be aiming to post updates of how the challenge is going as well as some recipes if you feel inspired to cook with rice sometime soon.
