Scented Candles and Why I Love Them*

I’ve always loved scented candles – this post contains one that was gifted for an honest review. There’s just something about them that I seem to find soothing. I love the flickering of the flame if there’s a bit of a breeze in the room and my god I love adding a scent to the room. This is the most important for me as I can’t use sprays due to my asthma so this is the best way to add atmosphere to a room.

When I thought up this blog post I swear there was going to be a point to it but as I get further into writing it what I’ve discovered is that my thoughts aren’t quite as coherent as I first imagined but they’re going down anyway.

Candle gifted by What’s in my Wonderland*

This candle by What’s in my Wonderland* in the scent sweet strawberry is just amazing and I love the size of the jar. I quite like taking a small scented candle away on holiday with me and being able to take a small one in a jam jar then I’m all for it.

While the name of the candle is sweet and if you smell it dry (unlit) then it does smell ridiculously sweet. However, once it’s lit the scent isn’t as strong and is quite gentle in the room. I do find it helps that I burn my candles in rooms that are on the large side with high ceilings too. If you have rooms that are more enclosed I would take that into consideration when deciding what to burn.

I’ve also been religiously burning two of my scented candles by Holly – Witch Cake. She was kind enough to make her signature scents without citrus as I’m allergic and I don’t know what burning the essential oil would do. Basically, I’m too much of a wimp to find out if it would cause me a reaction so I’m playing it safe.

All of Holly’s candles are named after Greek goddesses which I love and I purchased Athena and Persephone. Athena is my absolute favourite and I actually find that there isn’t much scent to it but that’s a good thing as my husband hates scented candles!

Hopefully, I can add more to my collection but these few will do for now. I definitely love a candle in a jar and there are a few more that I have my eye on.

Which scented candles do you love?
