What I Wear to Travel

I’d been toying with the idea of writing this post for a while but I just couldn’t seem to get the words out. This seems to be a common theme with some of my posts that I find some parts easier to write than others. The main issues that was getting to me was the question of is this a travel or fashion post? I’ve compromised and put it in both categories but decided that it’s main one is fashion based on the fact it’s about what I’m wearing. If you disagree then leave me a comment as I do like to know other peoples point of view. The other issue was based on my recent post about why I’ll never be a fashion blogger and that I didn’t feel confident enough to write the post in the first place.

As you can tell from the photo, I like to be comfortable when I travel and style comes a close second. It would seem that I like to co-ordinate my outfits ever so slightly but that might be because my wardrobe mainly consists of black, white, beige, blue and grey.

The top in the photo is a jumper that I found in the H&M sale and it’s quite light so great for summer wear. I do pop a vest top underneath it in case I get too hot but it could be worn without if you’re braver than me. I can’t link to it because I think it’s out of stock but basically wear whatever you’re comfortable in. There;s nothing worse than wearing something that doesn’t fit well and sitting in a car or on a plane for hours on end.

My trousers are the most comfortable black bootcut trousers from Marks and Spencer (£19.50). I originally bought them for work but they’re better for travel. They’re a soft and stretchy material so they have movement which is great for someone like me who is a bit of a squirmer as I can never get comfortable. My only issue with them is they don’t have any pockets which is why I don’t like them as work trousers. M&S have a great range of trousers right now and I can feel my bank balance depleting just writing about them.

At the moment it feels like I’ve become a bit of a blogger cliché as I own *that* Kanken backpack. It also gave me something to hold so that my spare hand wasn’t doing anything weird in the mirror selfie. Also, lets not talk about how long it took me to get a shot a was happy with. I’m not totally happy with it but it works for the purpose of this post if I’m honest. Going back to the bag, I’ve actually got mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, I love it and find that I can fit in everything I need when I travel (yes there will be a post on my travel essentials) but I always end up carrying my phone rather than putting it away. There are also a lot of times where I feel that this bag just doesn’t work for me as I basically can’t find what I’m looking for which stresses me out and I don’t need any more stress in my life right now.

Let’s talk about travel footwear. This is a subject I feel very strongly about and potentially could be a whole post on it’s own. As you’ve probably gathered I like to be comfy and if my feet hurt then the rest of me doesn’t feel right either. I usually wear a pair of Toms as they’re light but you’re also doing a good thing with every pair you purchase as another pair is then donated to a child in need of a pair of shoes too.  I’ve also been wearing my Harry Potter shoes that I picked up in Primark. While I would love to own actual Converse I’m so hard wearing on shoes that it wouldn’t be worth it, whereas with these if they disintegrate after a few wears I’ll be upset but not as upset as I might be.

This post has ended up a lot longer than I really intended it to, but, I hope it gives you an insight into what I wear when I travel.
