I was asked to write a post on how to keep (or get to) healthy teeth and it made me realise it’s something that I struggle with. This post isn’t going to be my tips but a to-do list for myself and it might even become a list I print and download and keep handy as a reminder to myself. I’ve covered a lot of posts in beauty/health but I think this is one that I’ve missed out.
The toothpaste included in this post was provided for review by Colgate but all views and opinions are my own.

I’ve had two dental abscesses and my god are they painful. As someone with a phobia of dentists and having dental work done having to have two extractions was hard but I got through it. I also have wonky and vaguely yellow teeth so I’ve made a list of all the things I need to do achieve healthy teeth. A lot of these are tips you can already find on the NHS website but I think they’re important for everyone to remember.
Brush twice a day
Twice a day is the very minimum that I’ve seen recommended for brushing your teeth. Morning (after breakfast) and at bedtime is the absolute least you should be doing on a daily basis. If you manage to brush more than that then you’re doing the right thing.
Use the right toothpaste
I know there are lots of kinds of toothpaste out there for various concerns but finding the right one can make all the difference. I like a whitening toothpaste like this one by Colgate. Anyone else find that they are a definite brand snob when it comes to certain products. We’ve always been a Colgate household and that will probably never change (other brands are available).

This Advanced White whitening toothpaste by Colgate contains micro-cleaning crystals which are designed to gently polish and give you whiter teeth in fourteen days. It has also been made to help prevent new stains from sticking to your teeth so they stay whiter for longer.
Limit your sugar intake
I’m not saying you can’t have sugar in your diet – I’m not that kind of person. All I’m staying is reduce the amount you have. This could be cutting down on the amount of fizzy drinks or fruit juice you have to kicking the sweetie habit. I know that’s something I need to work on.
Watch out for staining foods
Be careful of eating or drinking anything that may stain your teeth. this makes it harder for your toothpaste to do its job. It’s not just red wine that’s a culprit for this. Things like tea, coffee, beetroot and curry can also stain your teeth. As well as cleaning your teeth rinsing with water can help to reduce the staining.

These are all my tips for healthy teeth and what you can do to keep your teeth clean and healthy. It’s a lot to remember but a good toothpaste does a lot of the work for you.
