Relax, is one of those terms that is easy to say, but a whole lot harder to do. A while back I wrote a post about how to have a pamper day at home. The only problem with this post is the suggestion that we have a full day to spare in order to relax and chill out. Most of the time life gets in the way and we just don’t have the time to dedicate to a full day of self-care. This post contains four easy ways to help you relax after a hard day/week when your time is precious.
Read a book
How could my first choice not be a good book to read. Even if it’s only for half an hour, a good book can help you escape. In the words of Belle and Walt Disney “far off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, a prince disguise” are actually all things you’ll find in my favourite books. Basically, pick up the book that helps you escape from normal life by diving into its pages and staying there until you are ready to come out again.
Light a candle
I find having candles lit is a great way to relax, especially if they’re scented ones like this beauty from Mr & Mrs Scent (above). Orchid Noir is a very masculine fragrance (or at least that’s what my nose picks up anyway). Out of all of their scents, Zen is my favourite as it makes me think of my evenings by a fire. Again, what I would describe as a masculine scent due to the sandalwood but I think this is only because I prefer fruity or floral scents.
Have a shower
I find a nice hot shower really relaxing and that also goes for washing my hair. The drying and straightening, however, is another story. The colour of my hair is an ongoing issue and one that means I’ve been reaching for the hair dye on multiple occasions. I’m looking forward to trying the black seed hair products below as I’m not allergic to them and they’ll help my colour stay dark for longer while also being in better condition.

Have a nap
Yes, I am being deadly serious here. Sometimes the only way to truly relax and make yourself feel better is to have a nap. Naps have healing powers that my other ideas just simply don’t. Now I’m not suggesting a nap is a long term solution and that you should do it all the time but if your body is telling you that it wants sleep then my all means let it.
Any ideas for how to relax that I’ve missed? Please leave me a comment and enlighten me.
